Decorating tunable microchips with lipid monolayers. (a) The lipid mixture is applied over a water drop. Note the flattening of the drop (top left) after addition of lipid. (b) With the microchip inverted and the SiN membrane facing the drop, the microchip is carefully lowered onto the monolayer enabling transfer of the lipid layer to the microchip surface.
