CD40L-bearing viruses promote the surface expression of ICAM-1 and CD80. Purified B cells from tonsils were exposed for 24 h at 37°C to the same agents as those described in the legend to Fig. 3. Thereafter, expression levels of ICAM-1 (CD54) and CD80 were assayed by flow cytometry. The percentage of positive cells is depicted in each flow cytometry histogram.
