Cotransfection of SMN2-luciferase reporter with exon8-hnRNPA1 bifunctional RNA increases luminescence. HeLa cells were transfected with a cassette expressing SMN2-luciferase and exon8-hnRNPA1 bifunctional-expressing plasmid. These cells showed a significant increase in luminescence, showing an increase in splicing to exon 7 (p < 0.08 × 10−8).
