Accumulation of viral DNA after infection with wild-type (wt) and pp28-deficient viruses. Normal fibroblasts were infected with BADwt (•), BADsubUL99 (□), or BADpmUL99 (▵) at a multiplicity of infection of 0.01 PFU/cell, and total cell DNA was prepared at the indicated times after infection and assayed by slot blot with an HCMV-specific probe. Radioactivity was quantified by using a phosphorimager.
