Western blots (Figures 3C and 4A) appear to have been inappropriately manipulated (including gel-slice image duplications and reorientations that compromise the data). The main conclusions from these data were that ATM–/– CD8+ T cells in vitro have hyper-activated AMPK and Akt signaling (after TCR and IL-15 stimulation) and hyper-activated mTORC1 signaling (after TCR activation alone). The authors acknowledge that the western data manipulations compromise the conclusions reached about specific signaling pathway activation/perturbations in the WT and ATM–/– T cells in vitro.
